Performing Appliances

This project is an experience which characteristic focuses on human motions, interaction and awareness as a key driver in the design process. In the context of the kitchen I want the appliances to question the value of “handmade” in our modern society and reflect on the user’s consuming habits. The idea is to design the analogue manual action of a mixer as being the actual starting button. The efficiency of the mixer stays the same; the result is perfect and the user controls the process of production through his perceptive and physical interaction with the machine. The hand motion is the link between the perfect result and the emotional conscience of the user. This experience applied to other manual actions raises many possibilities for designing objects that are focusing on the need of a physical control feeling.
